"To be, or not to be?"

These are some pics that I took of my kiddos not too long ago. As you can see my 4 year old, Emily is very photogenic! The problem is that she hates having her picture taken. This is so frustrating for me, seeing as how I am an "aspiring" photographer. I love taking pictures, but it is like pulling teeth to get her to cooperate. My older daughter, Peyton on the other hand will pose every time she sees a camera. (as you can see in the pics posted) Yup, that's her in the pink boa. Did I mention she loved "props" too! She'll actually ask me, "Mom, is this a good pose?" I have gotten some great pics of her too, but their not as natural because she is always "posing"! Like I said, I would like nothing more than to make photography my 2nd job. (second behind being a full-time mom) I look at the sites of professional photographers that are making money hand over fist by doing the same thing that I love to do. Take pictures. I love being able to capture the true essence of a child's face, and those candid moments that describe their little personalities. I would love nothing more than to be making money doing something that I love and have such a passion for. The problem is that I'm scared too death to do it! At least for someone else. I guess I'm just so worried that they won't like what I like. I'm so scared I'll screw up! It is all fine and dandy when I don't get the lighting just right, or I take a blurry pic when it is with my kids, because they're "MY" kids. But what happens when someone starts paying me money, and I screw up! That's not cool! I guess I could drive myself crazy with all the stupid questions. I just need to buck up and do it! I'm starting to sound like my "whiny kid"! Didn't I just blog about her a few blogs back? Maybe I'll start acting like my "no-it-all kid" who believes that she can do it all! In the mean time, I'll just keep taking pics of my beauiful babies! Aren't they cute! Yeah, I know I'm biased!

Your kids are beautiful, it's not just your bias, and let it be known that they have some of the most beautiful hair that I have ever seen. I think that you take amazing pictures. You should talk to my friend Patricia, her link is on my blogsite. She has just started her own personal photography business in the last year. She does really great work too!! I know that she would love to hear from you. She has a website that has some of her work posted. If we move to Denver, I'll be your first client and if you screw up a little, I won't mind (but I know that you wouldn't). :)

I think you take great pics, and you are welcome to do a photo shoot with my kids anytime.

Ben says that is why you do a lot of free (sittings) work with your friends, then if they like the pics you can sell those. Also, most people don't see photographs the way photographers see them. You do great work and you should not give up. Ben was scared to death to charge the people for the first senior pics he did, but then he started going to weddings as a "back-up photographer" to practice and the wedding party people have always told him they liked his pics better than their actual photographer. Now I just need to get him to actually start charging!!

So if you're so worried about people not being happy, offer a money-back guarantee. You'd have to go really wrong for them to take you up on it.
